Following our successful application to the ESF fund, the Step Up Initiative project was launched in September 2014 after identifying certain barriers to employment that was highlighted in a survey conducted with the general public. The project supported people aged 19+ whom were considered as “hard to reach" to gain a greater opportunity of finding employment.
The project ended in May 2015 and was able to give 33 people that “Step Up” to bring them closer to employment through training, access to courses, work experience, volunteering and practical support.
Our volunteering programme is continuing to assist people with their employability needs. We adapt a holistic approach by considering the whole person and not just focusing on their ability to find employment. Our service meets the needs of the person rather than providing a service that people have to fit into.
